Berlin

Inter-railing City 2

I genuinely think Berlin is one of them cities where it's impossible to see it all. With so much history on every street, it's so incredible to witness.

First things first, the wall. With parts of it left standing across the city it's hard to miss it. With the majority of it covered in the most beautiful graffiti, it's incredible to see something so dark look so bright.

Talking of graffiti, Berlin is full of it. Not the local teenagers initials, but the purposefully drawn murals. It really does add a modern feel to such a historic city

As someone who hasn't done history since pre-GCSE, I spent all 3 days just learning more and more. I had a very basic knowledge to say the least but I left knowing a lot more about the world.
We took the tour of the Reichstag building, the views from the top were just incredible.

We also visited the jewish museum. Not only full of history, full of interactive exhibits and art too. It was heartbreaking. With corridors full of letters left for loved ones, and phones you could pick up to hear them read aloud. Cries for help and begging for anything other than their fate. There was empty rooms and crowded rooms. There is no other word to describe it other than heartbreaking.

Whilst we were in Germany it was the World Cup Final, so we managed to work our way into the fan zone and watch it on the big screens behind the Brandenburg Gate. Was the most exciting part of the trip so far and a great laugh. Last but not least the food. German food is great, hands down. Especially the street food, so currywurst, bratwurst, the lot. Definitely try it whilst you're there.

about The Page

I'm aiming to make a site for the average person, for those less able to give up everything and see the world, but still want to. I'm here to display all the places I've been and probably bore you a bit with my life and naff photography.
