Amsterdam
This is a post about when I visited Amsterdam in summer as part of my inter-railing trip. To read about Amsterdam in winter, check out my other post!

Would any adventure be right if it didn't include travel at stupid times from the start? With a 7am flight to Amsterdam we were all ready and eager to go. Showing up one by one at the Terminal 1 drop off point at roughly 4:30am, and finally waving our parents off as we checked in our massive rucksacks. After a short flight, we landed at roughly 9:30 local time.
Our accommodation was brilliant, (once we found it). We stayed across the water from the train station, meaning we were super close to everything. Anyone thinking of visiting Amsterdam, but on a budget, I'd recommend checking out accommodation on that side, with a free 24 hour ferry across, it makes so much sense.
We stayed in the little green camper- van, on Campsite Vliegenbos, potentially the nicest cleanest campsite I've ever experienced. Cutest place ever.
Most of our days were spent aimlessly exploring and popping into whatever caught our eyes. The first stop, and probably most obvious, was the Sex museum.
Photo with a giant penis was not a chance to be missed. Its definitely an odd experience but very fun. Exceeded all expectations, although I'm not 100% what I expected.
With a room full of vintage pornographic photos and animatronic mannequins playing with each other, probably not one to visit with the parents.
One thing we did find love for, and kept going back for, was the food. With little cafes and shops everywhere and an abundance of Nutella, which drowned ever cake, pastry and waffle, you couldn't go wrong.
And the cheese shops. So many samples of cheesy goodness. The cheeses with pesto in were a personal favourite.
Another tourist must was the Heineken Factory. Despite not being a massive fan of beer at the time, it was still great fun. You get a walking tour of the brewery, with 3 pints along the course of it. Lots of brilliant photo ops too.
Amsterdam is built for tourism, with its "Tours & Tickets" shops on every corner. We managed to get a deal and book the Heineken Factory and the Ice Bar as a deal and save us some money
The Ice Bar was brrrrrilliant. For the price you pay you get 2 drinks in the actual ice bar, where you have the choice of beer or a shot of vodka, which sounds awful but the vodka was whipped cream flavour and delicious. You also get a drink in the "lounge" bar, which you can redeem before or after your time in the cold.
They provide all the coats and gloves for you so don't worry about packing them. When they say everything is ice, it really was. The bar, the benches around the side, even the glasses we pure ice.
Aside from these, a lot of exploring was done. Martha and myself split off from the boys one day to head up to FOAM, the photography gallery which had a brilliant exhibition on. They also offer student tickets which was fabulous.
After a morning apart we headed toward the famous I AMsterdam structure and took the most touristy photos possible.
One place we obviously visited, but have no photos of due to the rules in place, The Red Light District. I knew what it was and thought I knew what to expect, but it still was completely different to what I imagined.
Amsterdam is definitely a place I need to go back to. with only 3 days we saw so much but I feel we only scratched the surface. All I can suggest is that you go get lost in Amsterdam yourselves.
